I was born and brought up in Freshwater, into a parish council background. I attended college in Bristol and then for the next sixteen years, lived in Romsey. I was employed for much of that time by Courage’s, working in the free trade. It was in 1984 that the family returned to the Island, living initially in Oxford Street, my daughter attending Northwood Primary. We subsequently moved to Cockleton Lane in Gurnard.
I have been the County Press’s Village Talk correspondent for the Cowes and East Cowes areas for the past 22 years, this includes Northwood. I was Chairman of the Gurnard Village Partnership for 4 years, and of the Cowes Youth Club Management Committee for 15 years. My particular interests are ensuring that vital services are still provided in rural areas and the provision of affordable housing stock.
