Love where you live
While visitors can discover the wonderment of the Isle of Wight for a few days or weeks, as residents we are lucky enough to live in an area of outstanding natural beauty all year round.
As guidance changes and we start the re-opening process, now is the time to plan for when you can. To consider all the places you have said you would love to go right here at home, but never have.
Make every weekend on the Isle of Wight a holiday at home.
Rediscover your Island
One of the UK’s top holiday destinations, as Islanders we can step outside of the front door and be just 20 minutes from miles of unspoiled beach, rolling countryside, the sea, the woods, interesting landmarks, thriving wildlife.
We can walk, run, ride bikes, ride horses, paddleboard, surf, skate, sail. We have breath-taking views that will never get old, more hours of sunlight and a unique landscape to explore.
There are friendly pubs serving up local grub just around the corner, exciting attractions to entertain the kids, we can eat freshly caught seafood with a glass of fizz by the sea if we are feeling fancy or stop off for a pint and a roast mid cycle, head to toe in mud with mates.
Support local business
The roadmap says that from 12 April, lockdown restrictions in England will begin to ease for “non-essential business”, meaning outdoor spaces will once again be open for residents to enjoy.
Heritage sites, zoos, attractions, pub gardens, restaurant terraces, gyms, spas and self-catering properties will all be ready to welcome, with the rule of six and COVID safe measures in place to ensure everyone stays happy, healthy and protected.
During this period of gradual recovery, our local businesses need local support. They need you.
If you had just arrived on the Island for the first time, where would you go, what would you do?
Why not make a weekend of it every weekend for the foreseeable and discover a new appreciation for this special Island we call home.
Use this time to rediscover your Island and love where you live.
As you spend more time outside of the home, please plan your days out. Hands, face, space remains vital. Everyone age over 16 can pick up free rapid response COVID home test kits for people without symptoms.
Enjoy the Island safely.
