Mark Coventry
Mark Coventry has been a parish councillor since September 2018.
I first came to the Island in the early 60s and have had family link to East Cowes since then. The Island has been my home since the mid 70s.
I have farmed the land at Lower Luton Farm over the past 50 years and have lived here for the last 10 years.
My main interest on the Parish Council revolve around planning, the environment and the natural wild life of both terrestrial and aquatic environments (I have a degree in marine zoology) I also have an interest in the history and heritage of the surrounding area.

Paul Fuller
Paul Fuller has been a parish councillor since the Parish Council was established in 2008
“I live with my long-suffering wife, Karen in Oxford Street.
My family has lived in Northwood for many generations, and I returned to the area wanting to give my family a better life in 1999.
I became involved in public life because I felt elected representatives didn’t put the views of local residents first. Enthused by my attitude, I bizarrely became the youngest prospective Member of the European Parliament when selected by the Green Party in 1994!
On leaving ‘party politics’, I served as an Independent I.W. Councillor for Ryde between 1995 and 2001, increasing my majority on re-election in 1998. Between 2001 and 2005, I became a Cowes Town Councillor, and Gurnard Parish Councillor since 2005.
In Northwood I have served Northwood Residents’ Association and was privileged to enthusiastically chair the Northwood Community Partnership and Village Management Committee. I coordinated the Northwood Parish Plan and aspired to ensure those activities were motivated and transparent.
I also serve as a Justice of the Peace, Northwood School Governor, helped form Island Governors and recently the Friends of Northwood Cemetery.
My main interests include Transport, Planning, improving Youth Facilities, Leisure and the Environment. I endeavour to be a good listener and to act in accordance with views put. If I fail to live up to your expectations, I deserve to be given a hard time! “

Richard Martin
Richard Martin has been a parish councillor since September 2021.
I live in Newport Road with my wife Cheryl, who grew up in Coronation Avenue. Our grandson is a third-generation attendee at Northwood Primary School.
I have spent the last 32 years working within the education sector – primarily overseeing the facilities, finances, and human resources management at a number of independent schools. I currently work part-time at a local Special Needs school as their Health & Safety Officer.
Amongst many of my interests is being a charity trustee for the Green Island Holiday Trust that provides summer holidays for people with disabilities. My other interests include playing guitar with my grandson followed by rugby and judo.
I became a Parish Councillor to be able to offer help and guidance to benefit the people of Northwood. More importantly, to ensure that the local community have an influence in much wider decisions being made on the Isle of Wight.

John Nicholson
John Nicholson has been a parish councillor since May 2013.
“I was born and grew up in Gurnard, educated at Holy Cross, East Cowes, then St John’s College, Southsea, spending my weekends at Gurnard Sailing Club. It was whilst living in Gurnard that I ventured into starting my own construction company, after some years of working for Island Builders and on their DOE gang, doing restoration work. For a number of years, I lived in Moorgreen Road, with my first partner, and expert cook, Dawn McIntyre, and where I further developed my business; then, when I moved to Northwood, my business went to the small industrial estate at Three Gates Road However, after a fire that destroyed everything, I moved it to my home in Pallance Road, before finding a suitable premises at Forest Road, where it is based today, and I now live in Pallance Lane (2 degrees colder and a lot quieter!) with my beautiful Cuban born wife, Oleima, and family.
Those who know me will also know that I am an avid Real Ale fan, having been Chairman for the local CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) branch for many years. CAMRA is, probably, the world’s most successful consumer campaign, and has resulted in the wonderful and diverse range of purely British Real Ales that we enjoy today. Under my Chairmanship, the IW branch have been innovators on a national scale, including being the first branch to form a liaison with the local Police Licensing Office, a relationship which the police have grown to find most useful and productive.
Apart from family life, I also hold an interest in yoga, psychology and eastern mysticism (something that is being recognised as having great significance as our western scientific progress increasingly confirms ancient knowledge and wisdom).
It was at the invitation and instigation of my friend Roger Mazillius that I decided to take on the role of Councillor, having had no political experience before. As owner of my own Company, I am used to dealing with people and solving “seemingly unsolvable” problems. During the election campaign, I really enjoyed meeting and talking to local people while out canvassing.
For me, now, it is about finding a balance between my duties as Councillor and responsibilities at work and maintaining a life at home with the ones I love.
